Ten reasons to work for Beyond Limits

More about...

Emma is the new Picasso of the art world, attending a weekly art class, lives a full life in her local community and loves supporting her favourite charities.  She has her own spacious bungalow which she takes great pride in and looks after with the support of her workers.

Emma is great company. She will chat away freely and shows a great interest in people. Family is very important to Emma and she enjoys spending time with them as much as she can as well as making them welcome in her home.

Emma is very caring towards her Support Workers and she likes them to be friendly and outgoing. She has a lovely sense of humour and is a great organiser and has been involved in helping run fundraisers which she tackles with great gusto and enthusiasm.

Working with Emma will give you the opportunity to think out of the box. She loves to try new things and is open to suggestions but will be absolutely clear if she doesn’t want to do something.

You will help Emma build and maintain her independent living skills. This can include encouraging her to complete some household chores, going shopping and cooking. You will also support her to attend her church, go to the cinema, her art classes, out for lunch, attend appointments, the possibilities are endless. Emma has her own car for you to take her to all of the above so a full, clean driving licence is essential.  You might even get the chance of a short break away with Emma as she loves her holidays.

Working with Beyond Limits D&G is different to most care work. We support people with learning disabilities, mental health issues and drug and alcohol issues to live an independent life that makes sense to them. People are at the heart of everything we do.

You would be joining a small, friendly team of workers with Emma. We have a space to fill one day during the week and Saturday and Sunday every second weekend. If your team-mates are on annual leave or off sick, you may be needed to cover. We are a flexible team and try our best to help each other out whenever we can. If you come on board and decide you love us, there may be the opportunity to increase hours and develop within the organisation. With the right staff on board, the plan is to take on more people that need our support although we will never be a huge organisation as quality of service is our priority.

You don’t need to have had any previous experience in the Care Sector as full induction training and continued support will be provided throughout your employment. You will be initially put on shadow shifts with a more experienced workmate until you feel confident to support Emma on your own.

We just ask that you are caring, friendly, motivated and dedicated. With these qualities, you will find the job extremely rewarding.

Note:  This position is a genuine occupational requirement covered under the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and therefore only applications from females are requested.

Ideally you will:

  • Be caring
  • Be committed
  • Be flexible in your work
  • Be a good time-keeper
  • Be friendly
  • Have a good sense of humour
  • Be willing to learn and develop

A PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) Check will be requested in the event of the individual being offered a position with Beyond Limits Dumfries and Galloway, the cost of which will be paid by the employee, however, this will be refunded after successful completion of a six-month probation period.
