Ten reasons to work for Beyond Limits

More about...

Beyond Limits D&G is growing and developing.  We will always be a small Care Provider because we prefer to maintain our reputation of providing good quality support.  We are looking for a Support Worker to work with two new young ladies we will be supporting.  The right person will have the values, behaviours and a particular set of interpersonal skills to join our Teams.  You will be in at the start of developing the new supports, getting to know the ladies and building Teams around them as their support develops. The post at present is to support them both individually over 13 hours/week but the plan is to provide them with full-time support so more hours and career progression will be available for the right person.  We feel that values-based recruitment is more important than recruiting on the basis of specific qualifications or previous experience. Beyond Limits D&G support people with learning disabilities, mental health issues and drug and alcohol issues to lead an ordinary life that makes sense to them.  Beyond Limits D&G believes that good care isn’t just about services, it’s about having a life! So who will you be supporting?

Marie is a sociable young lady who likes to get out and about.  She enjoys lunches out, gaming and has a love of animals, in particular dogs.  Marie has a part-time job working with a dog groomer which she loves.  Marie would like someone to support her to enjoy outings and activities and generally develop her independence skills.  Marie would eventually like to have her own home and you would be supporting her through this process.  This would mean that Marie would need 24/7 support from her Team in the future.  If, at the moment this amount of hours isn’t enough for you, we do also need Bank Workers who can cover holidays, sickness and training for existing supports.

Fiona is also very sociable and her interests include days out, animals, soaps, reading and horses amongst other things.  She has her own home so you would be supporting to look after her home including shopping and cooking.

Your days will always be varied and as a highly person-centred organisation, you will be very much led by Marie and Fiona on your day-to-day support, the possibilities are endless.

We follow a strict Safe Recruitment Process and although initially a CV is great to give us a bit of background about you, if you are to progress with your application, we would need you to complete one of our application forms which we can provide when needed or can be accessed within this advert.  If successful after the interview stage, you would meet the person/people you would be supporting who have the final say on whether or not they are happy for you to join their Team.

If this all sounds like something that interests you, we would love to hear from you.

Please note:  This position is a genuine occupational requirement covered by the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and therefore only applications from females are requested.

Ideally you will:

  • Have good organisational skills
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be kind with a good level of patience
  • Have a caring nature
  • Be a Team Player
  • Be willing to learn and develop

A PVG Check will be requested in the event of the individual being offered a position with Beyond Limits Dumfries and Galloway, the cost of which will be paid by the employee however, this will be reimbursed to the employee on successful completion of a 6-month probation period.
