Ten reasons to work for Beyond Limits

More about...

We are currently looking for a Support Worker to work with men with mental health issues, learning disabilities and drug and alcohol issues to support them with everyday living and activities and hobbies they enjoy. Although, we have advertised this as a 25 hr/week post, Beyond Limits Dumfries is growing and there is the potential for more hours.

So what does the job involve? Every day will be different. You could be going to the football, walks in the countryside, lunch in a cafe, cooking, gardening, the possibilities are endless. You could also be supporting with budgeting, appointments, household skills, paperwork and every day life skills. There will be days when you will be challenged but there will always be a good support network around you to help you through these times. This is however, a rewarding role. You will see the people you support grow and develop their interests, confidence, skills and community involvement. There is no personal care involved in this role as all the people we support can manage this independently.

We have a good, robust induction programme so be prepared for a lot of training to start with, most of which is online and you get paid to complete it. You will also get the chance to do shadow shifts where you will work with experienced team mates to get you familiar with the routine.

We don’t mind if you haven’t any past experience in the Care Sector as we will provide you with all the training and support you need. All we ask is that you are dedicated, caring, friendly and take pride in your work. We are an all-female team at the moment so we would love to hear from any men out there interested in joining our team. But don’t be put off ladies, we welcome interest from you too.
